what is Shopkeeper?

Responsible for managing daily operations, maintaining inventory, and ensuring excellent customer service in a retail store. Duties include handling sales transactions, organizing merchandise displays, and addressing customer inquiries and concerns.

Shopkeeper responsibilities include :

  • Welcome and assist customers in a friendly and helpful manner
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store, including shelves and merchandise displays
  • Stock shelves with products and ensure items are properly labelled
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate with management about restocking needs
  • Operate the cash register and process transactions accurately
  • Verify customer identification for age-restricted products in the off-license section
  • Follow proper procedures for handling cash, credit card transactions, and refunds
  • Keep track of expiration dates and remove expired products from shelves
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and checking goods for accuracy and quality
  • Keep track of sales and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports
  • Follow health and safety guidelines when handling and storing products
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service and address customer inquiries or issues
  • Assist with store opening and closing procedures, including securing the premises
  • Adhere to store policies and procedures, including those related to security and cleanliness.

Responsibilities :

  • Ensure all products are properly stocked and displayed in an organized manner
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, restocking products as needed
  • Operate the cash register and handle transactions accurately
  • Check identification and enforce age restrictions for purchasing alcohol in the off-license section
  • Keep the store clean and tidy, including shelves and product displays
  • Assist customers with inquiries, provide product information, and offer guidance
  • Follow proper procedures for handling cash, credit card transactions, and refunds
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain a smooth operation in the store
  • Receive deliveries, check goods for quality and accuracy, and update inventory records
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations when handling and storing products
  • Report any issues or concerns to store management promptly

Requirements & skills :

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of health and safety requirements of working with heavy products.
  • Basic understanding of monitor and record food temperature.
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • T. literate – Basic understanding
  • Numerate – count money.
  • Available during the shop opening hours and the follow shift rota (Full time staff should available and work minimum 5 days a week and part time staff should be available to work for at least 3 days a week)
