- Overseeing shopkeepers: The shop supervisor is responsible for managing and directing all shopkeepers, ensuring they follow store guidelines and meet performance expectations.
- Managing staff rota: Creating and organizing staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during operating hours and managing time-off requests effectively.
- Sales record keeping: Maintaining accurate records of sales transactions, monitoring sales trends, and analyzing data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Purchasing and finances: Handling procurement processes, tracking inventory levels, managing budgets, and overseeing financial activities to optimize profitability.
- Quality control: Monitoring the quality of products and services offered in the store, implementing quality assurance procedures, and addressing any issues promptly.
- Retail staff evaluation: Assessing the job performance of retail staff, providing feedback, and identifying areas for development to enhance team efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills: Demonstrating effective communication with team members, customers, and suppliers to ensure clear understanding and collaboration.
- Leadership abilities: Leading by example, guiding and motivating staff, fostering teamwork, and creating a positive work environment to achieve common goals.
Responsibilities :
- Supervising shopkeepers, cashiers, shelf stockers, and other employees
- Assisting manager with financial management and annual budget preparation
- Keeping records of expenditures, sales figures, invoices, and employee performance
- Evaluating stock supply, availability, and profit margins
- Implementing measures to prevent stock damages, theft, and wastage
- Monitoring shelf stocks, product displays, and store appearance
- Opening and closing the store, and handing over responsibilities as needed
- Providing emergency coverage for storekeeper shifts and supporting with sales, shelving, and cleaning tasks
- Researching market trends and suggesting customer-appealing products
- Addressing customer requests, comments, and complaints
- Motivating employees to reach targets
- Creating product lists, placing orders, and visiting suppliers
- Maintaining relationships with suppliers, customers, and staff
Requirements & skills :
- General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or higher qualification
- Communication skills
- Organisational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively
- T. literate – Basic understanding
- Numerate
- Leadership skills.
- Ability to motivate and mange staff.
- Retail store experience.
- Stock sourcing and management experience.
- Experience in supervising team members.
- Customer service experience.
- Rota management.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of health and safety requirements of working with heavy products.
- Knowledge of selling techniques.
- Stock management skills.
- Price comparison and good understanding of purchasing goods.
- Knowledge of planogram.
- Good understanding of food temperature.
- Product margin and profit.
- Available during the shop opening hours and the follow shift rota (Full time staff should available and work minimum 5 days a week and part time staff should be available to work for at least 3 days a week)
